Algerian international and striker Karim Matmour opens his heart to Echorouk and spoke about his brief visit to Algeria and the preparatory training camp of the Fennecs in Switzerland.
Â
- Echorouk: Is your visit to Algiers related to the training camp and official matches only?
- Karim Matmour: This time I decided to visit my country for personal things, as it is an opportunity to meet the magic of Algiers. I like this city.
- Echorouk: You were absent in the latest match with your club Monchengladbach, why?
- Karim Matmour: I felt some pain in my feet, therefore, I decided not to adventure. Now, I feel better and I will join the training camp with my teammates on Thursday, May 13.
- Echorouk: At the end of every season, a lot players change their clubs. Did you find your future club?
- Alternatively, will you stay in Monchengladbach?
- Karim Matmour: I have some offers, but I have not yet decided. I prefer waiting the end of the World Cup.
- Echorouk: What are clubs that wish to sign you?
- Karim Matmour: French and German teams want to sign me, but nothing is confirmed yet.
- Echorouk: What about the news that speaks about the possibility that you join a Spanish club next season?
- Karim Matmour: No Spanish club contacted me, but I will consider any offer from the Liga, playing there is amazing.
- Echorouk: D you mean that your story with Monchengladbach is over.
- Karim Matmour: My desire to stay in Monchengladbach diminished compared to last season, however, this does not mean that I will officially leave. I have to wait until the end of the World Cup in order to find my destination.
- Echorouk: Coach Rabah Saadane announced on the list of players to participate in Switzerland training camp, give us your opinion about his choice.
- Karim Matmour: I think Coach Rabah Saadane is aware of what he does. We must accept his selection, because any coach in the world would find difficulties while choosing the players to participate in a World Cup competition.
- Echorouk: What is your opinion about who have been removed from the list despite their participation in the qualifications?
- Karim Matmour: Frankly; I ‘m sorry, for the exclusion of some players from this list. I wish they move with us, but this is the game and only coach can determine a list. I know that it is a difficult situation.
- Echorouk: The Desert Warriors will train in Crans Montana on 1500 meters high. Do you think the AFF and Saadane succeeded in selecting the right camp?
- Karim Matmour: All the largest teams train in Switzerland or Austria and in Monchengladbach trained there once. I think Saadane and AFF took the right choice, because we will play at high altitude in South Africa.
- Echorouk: You will face Ireland end of May. Do you think playing in Dublin was the ideal choice?
- Karim Matmour: The Irish team includes many excellent players. I think it is a good choice.
